The above illustrations show typical TECO recuperative furnaces which are generally used by the container industry for the melting of soda lime glass and the textile fiber industries for the melting of low alkali borosilicate glasses. This type of furnace is also produced by TECO affiliates KTGSI and TECOGLAS.

TECO recuperative furnaces are characterized by their low fuel consumption and low emissions while producing high quality glass and achieving a long campaign life. The fuel consumption for a soda lime glass characteristic is shown in the Fuel Consumption Graph below.

In some applications, bubbler systems are utilized to enhance convection flow patterns and to improve melter bottom temperature. Also, in some applications electric boost is installed to increase the production rate for a given melter size or to reduce emissions or a combination of these needs. Electric boost is also used to enhance glass quality.

Recuperative type furnaces are used for glass melting applications up to 250 tons per day.
